The main question that comes to our minds when we think about new construction is…WHY NOT START RIGHT? At Energy Smart we’re far more than an insulating company. We are focused on helping you as the builder, general contractor or homeowner make the most comfortable home. We’re involved in multiple areas of the home performance industry and are constantly keeping up to date with new products as well as best practices. We are confident in the products we use and our ability to thoroughly address your energy efficiency needs.

How we do this:
-Energy Star Certifications
Energy Star - Home Performance with Energy StarWe work beside builders in selecting the most appropriate energy-efficient features for a home. We inspect and test the home during and after construction to verify that the home meets the Energy Star guidelines for energy efficiency.

-IRC 2009 Residential Testing
Duct Leakage/ Air Leakage of the Building Envelope

International Residential Code (IRC) 2009

  • Comprehensive, stand-alone residential code for one- and two-family dwellings and townhouses using prescriptive provisions
  • Available for adoption and use by governmental jurisdictions internationally
  • Kept up-to-date through the review of proposed changes submitted by code enforcing officials, industry representatives, design professionals, and other interested parties

Computer Energy Modeling
Computer based home energy modeling is an excellent way to predict the impact of improvements in a new home before the work is done. Knowing the implications of decisions up front facilitates selection from among a wide array of building and energy efficiency options.

Cellulose Wall SpraySpray Foam
Installed in walls of residential and commercial buildings, cellulose wall spray has a high R-value, offers superior thermal and air-filtration properties, defends against mold growth and even dramatically reduces noise transmission.

Spray Foam
Air-sealing a home is one of the primary ways to create a pressure barrier in a house. Every space between sheeting and even unsealed seams on house wrap can account for significant air infiltration. By using 1 and 2 part spray foams, we are able to seal gaps giving you the right first step towards home comfort.

Cellulose
Made from recycled paper, Cellulose gives you:

  • a greater R Value per inch than fiberglass
  • a denser material which allows less air infiltration
  • a fire, insect and mold resistance that no other products can compete with
  • more energy efficiency in production of material
