New Construction

The main question that comes to our minds when we think about new construction is… why not start right?  At Energy Smart, we’re far more than an insulating company.  We are focused on helping you as the builder, general contractor or homeowner create the most comfortable and energy efficient home possible.  We’re involved in multiple areas of the home performance industry and are constantly keeping up to date with new products and best practices.  We are confident in the products we use and our ability to thoroughly address your home performance needs.

We are happy to introduce our new Energy Smart Comfort Plus Program for new construction.  With Comfort Plus, which consists of a three-tier palette of options, we work with builders and homeowners to create an effective plan for home performance that goes all the way from groundbreaking to housewarming.  (As with all Energy Smart offerings, Comfort Plus is customizable, to meet the needs and tastes of each builder and homeowner.)  Here’s a look at what’s available through Comfort Plus.

  • Air Sealing – subfloor rim and band joist cavities, side walls, windows (jambs and rough openings), attic
  • Pre Drywall Inspections – duct air leakage testing (to EnergyStar standards), thermal bypass checklist inspection, review of “Manual J” calculations
  • Post Drywall Inspections – blower door testing (to EnergyStar standards), infrared scanning, attic inspection, door weather-stripping and sweep inspection
  • Computer Energy Modeling – energy consumption predictions, energy efficiency improvement analysis
  • Conferral of Comfort Plus Certification
  • Complete Energy Star Certification

We also offer builders and contractors duct and building envelope (blower door) inspections as per the IRC 2009 building code (a comprehensive, stand-alone residential code for one- and two-family dwellings and townhouses).

When building new, going green is one of the smartest things a homeowner can do.  Contact Energy Smart at (717) 258-6574 or info@paenergysmart.com to discuss the energy savings solutions that will work best for you.
